# 3. Web Editing Software

When you chose your web editing software you need to be wise. You may want to stick with it for years, once you've started to use the software of your choice. You will have to take some money off your pockets for it, as there is no recommendable free web editing software available till date. But don't worry. It does not cost an arm and a leg and it's a one time investment.

Most people are still using the web editing software dinosaurs Frontpage or Dreamweaver. Don't get us wrong. Both are very powerful web editing solutions. Especially Dreamweaver has been very popular upon web designers for years.

We also used it until a little over a year ago. Until... until xSitePro was dropped to the market. We tested it and - wow - immediately switched over.

Both, Frontpage and Dreamweaver are far too complicated to use, require too much time (much too much time) to learn how to use them and they do NOT include some of the most important automated features you will need to build your website, especially if you want to make money with it.

Advanced users may not like this too much but for beginners it can be the ideal solution. Either way, it is very powerful and fast as well and we also clearly give it our recommendation.

# 4. FTP Software

FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" and is used to upload files or entire websites onto a web server. This sounds complicated but really is as simple as 1,2,3.

Now, most advanced web editing software such as xSitePro have their own automated FTP tool already built in, so you do not need to take care.

But sometimes in your "webmaster life" you will find it useful to quickly upload itemized files or folders to your internet server directly from your hard drive. And then it is very useful to have a fast little FTP program at hand that you can just fire up to quickly upload these files.

Your website will be totally useless if you cannot drive any visitors to it. Therefore it is absolutely essential that you not only optimize your web pages for the search engines, but also submit them to them, so that they can send their little robots to spider your pages and get them indexed.

Search engine optimization and search engine submission is a chapter on itself and we will surely cover it in more depth in future editions of our newsletter.

But today we make a long story short here!

Out of several SEO tools around there are really only two that get our total support. One is free of charge (at least in it's basic version), the other one costs something below $200...

So why the hell do we not only recommend the free one, if it still is a recommendable one?

Because of Pepsi and Coca-Cola...!

Seriously!

Our number one, SEO-Elite was the first true SEO software available, and still today, in it's latest edition, this "original"

(Coca-Cola) is the most powerful SEO tool you can ever dream of. If you can afford it, we highly recommend you make it your choice. Be aware that it is a BIG difference if you can make it to search result page number one or to any lower result page on Google.

Think about your own search behaviour. Who ever is going to click on a link on search result page No. 97 when you have all you need available right in front of your nose on search result page No. 1 right away?

Having the right tool on hand to push your website to the first page on Google or Yahoo whenever a user searches for your particular keyword(s) makes the difference in success or failure of your business. The other solution is Web-CEO. You already may know it from a previous newsletter. It is NOT BAD. But it is the "Pepsi" in our little comparison. If you are on shoestring budget you should go for this one. It is not as powerful as SEO-Elite, but still more powerful than any other SEO application around.

Web-CEO is available in a paid and in a fr.ee version. The basic version is totally free of charge and has only little limits in comparison to the paid version. Unless many other freeware, there is NO time limit to use the free version, which of course is a big advantage.
